June 5, 1985: Mariners (24-27) at Tigers (31-18)

Matt Young reeled off a total of 12 strikeouts as the Seattle Mariners defeated the Detroit Tigers in 11 innings by a score of 3 to 2 at TIGER STADIUM. 

The game was deadlocked at 2 after nine full innings. Seattle was victorious in the 11th inning. Alvin Davis reached on an error. Gorman Thomas stepped up to the plate and he drew a walk. After an out was recorded, Dave Henderson then hit a single. Seattle finished with 8 hits in the victory. 

The victory went to Young(6-4) who went 10 innings, allowing 2 runs. Edwin Nunez earned the save, his 13th. Randy O'Neal(0-1) was the loser in relief. It was a tough loss for him as he did not allow an earned run in his 1 inning of work. 

'He was really impressive tonight,' O'Neal said of his counterpart. 'Our guys were just swinging at air.'
