June 8, 1985: Cardinals (31-21) at Mets (32-19)

Andy Van Slyke touched them all as the St. Louis Cardinals beat the New York Mets by a score of 7 to 5. 

St. Louis set the tone of the game in the first inning when they scored 2 runs on 4 hits. New York had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short. 

The victory went to Bob Forsch(5-4) who went 6 and 1/3 innings, allowing 4 runs. Forsch was helped out by Jeff Lahti who recorded his 10th save. The loss was charged to Ed Lynch(6-3). He was knocked around, surrendering 7 runs in 5 innings. 

With this win, St. Louis has a 31-21 record. They have been 6-4 lately. New York has a record of 32-19 after the loss.
