June 8, 1985: Giants (20-32) at Astros (22-31)

It was a laugher out at The Astrodome. The San Francisco Giants squad ripped Houston pitching for a total of 11 runs. Jim Gott(5-2), with relief help from Greg Minton, surrendered 3 runs to Houston.

Ron Roenicke was unconscious all evening. The Houston fans hated to see him approaching the batter's box as he just kept delivering base hits! He blasted a Grand Slam homerun in the 4th inning, ripped a single which scored a run in the 6th inning and tripled knocking in a run in the 9th inning. Offensively, San Francisco was a juggernaut. They scored in 6 separate innings.

Nolan Ryan(6-6) was tagged with the loss. He allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 9 hits and 3 walks in 4 and 1/3 innings.

Roenicke said, 'It was just all timing. I had pretty good rhythm at the plate tonight. You've got to take advantage of mistakes when you can. A couple pitches were definitely up a little bit - right in my zone.'
