June 9, 1985: Cardinals (31-22) at Mets (33-19)

Keith Hernandez connected with a 'big fly' and had 2 RBI as the New York Mets defeated the St. Louis Cardinals by the score of 4 to 3 at SHEA STADIUM. 

New York scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning. The key offensive moment was provided by Sid Fernandez who made the New York fans a happy lot when he slapped a single which was good for two runs. St. Louis had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short. 

The win went to Fernandez(8-2) who allowed 3 runs in 8 innings. Jesse Orosco earned his 9th save. Kurt Kepshire(3-5) took the loss. He gave up 9 hits and 1 walk in 6 innings.
