June 15, 1985: Cardinals (38-22) at Cubs (34-24)

Jack Clark slammed a homerun and had 5 RBI and Joaquin Andujar tossed a shutout as the sizzling St. Louis Cardinals ballclub embarrassed the Chicago Cubs by the count of 17 to 0.

Clark was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided much of the offense for the visitors. He lined a single plating a run in the 2nd inning and blasted a two-run home run in the 4th inning. St. Louis kept the scorekeepers busy in the 2nd inning which saw them plate 4 runs on 6 hits, the 4th inning which saw them plate 4 runs on 5 hits and the 9th inning which saw them score 4 runs on 3 hits. St. Louis had a total of 21 hits for the game.

It was the 3rd shutout of the year for Andujar(4-6). The losing pitcher was Ray Fontenot(3-4). St. Louis knocked him around a bit, as he gave up 7 runs in 3 and 2/3 innings.

No one has been able to stop St. Louis lately as they lengthened their winning streak to 7 games. 'We're on quite a roll lately' said Whitey Herzog. 'I just hope we can keep it going.
