After an out was recorded, Doran came to bat and drew a walk. Craig Reynolds then stroked a one-base hit. Kevin Bass followed next and he doubled. Jose Cruz came to the plate and lined a base-hit. Overall Houston out-hit Los Angeles 17 to 14. 

The victory was credited to Jeff Calhoun(2-0) who went 2 innings, allowing 2 runs. Ken Howell(1-2) was hit with the loss in relief. He pitched 2/3 of an inning and surrendered 4 hits and 1 walk.
