Philadelphia drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning scoring a single run on 2 hits. Pittsburgh threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.
Charles Hudson(1-6) got the win allowing 5 runs in 8 and 2/3 innings. Kent Tekulve earned the save, his 10th. Jim Winn(1-3) was hit with the loss. He was knocked around by Philadelphia, allowing 10 hits and 3 walks in 5 innings.
