Nolan Ryan struck out 10 batters at FULTON CTY STADIUM as the Houston Astros beat the reeling Atlanta Braves by the count of 4 to 3. 

Ryan(8-6) earned his pay with a solid performance for Houston. He went 7 innings and surrended up 6 hits and 2 walks. Atlanta had a chance in the 9th but they came up short. 

Ryan got relief help from Dave Smith who gained credit for his 11th save. Len Barker(4-5) was the losing pitcher. 'Everything felt great' Ryan said. 'I had a good fastball, I felt I could throw it by everybody tonight.'
