George Brett had 2 base hits as the Kansas City Royals defeated the Minnesota Twins by the score of 4 to 3 at ROYALS STADIUM. 

Kansas City claimed the early lead in the first inning as they scored 2 runs on 3 base hits. Minnesota threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short. 

Charlie Leibrandt(6-6) allowed 2 runs in 8 innings, and picked up the victory. Dan Quisenberry earned the save, his 17th. Frank Viola(6-8) suffered the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 10 hits and 4 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings.
