June 21, 1985: Expos (31-36) at Mets (41-24)

Sid Fernandez retired 13 batters on strikeouts as the New York Mets bested the Montreal Expos 3 to 1 at SHEA STADIUM.

Fernandez(11-2) gave a fine effort for New York. He allowed 8 hits and 5 walks in 8 innings. Montreal threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short. Fernandez got help from Roger McDowell who earned his 4th save. Bill Gullickson(6-7) was tagged with the loss.

Fernandez was jubilant in the hometown clubhouse, "It was a lot of fun out there. The fans gave me a lot of support as did my teammates. We got the victory and I'll sure take 13 strikeouts anytime!"
