June 21, 1985: Pirates (26-38) at Phillies (24-40)

The Pittsburgh Pirates nipped the Philadelphia Phillies 5 to 4 at VETERANS STADIUM in a hard fought contest.

Larry McWilliams(5-4) was solid if not spectacular. He went 5 and 1/3 innings surrendering 6 hits and 2 walks. McWilliams whiffed an impressive total of 6 Philadelphia batters. Philadelphia had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.

McWilliams got relief help from Cecilio Guante who gained credit for his 8th save. Charles Hudson(1-7) absorbed the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 12 hits and 4 walks in 6 and 2/3 innings.

"It wasn't my best outing, but I'll take the win" McWilliams said.
