Designated hitter Dave Kingman had 4 hits and 2 RBI as the Oakland Athletics pulled out a win over the Chicago White Sox by a score of 5 to 4 at OAKLAND COLISEUM. 

The game was won by Oakland with a run in the 9th inning. Alfredo Griffin cracked a solo homerun making Oakland victorious to the delight of the the home town crowd. Oakland managed 13 hits in their victory. 

Jay Howell(1-3) went 1 inning allowing 1 run for the victory. Dan Spillner(3-2) took the loss in relief. He pitched 1 and 2/3 innings and surrendered 3 hits and no walks.
