June 26, 1985: Tigers (42-27) at Red Sox (42-29)

In a close game the Boston Red Sox got by the Detroit Tigers by the score of 5 to 3. 

Boston scored 2 runs in the decisive bottom of the 5th inning. The biggest moment was provided by Mike Easler who elicited a roar from the hometown fans when he singled which was good for two runs. Detroit threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short. 

Tim Lollar(4-2) allowed 3 runs in 8 innings, and picked up the victory. Bob Stanley was credited with his 19th save. Walt Terrell(6-6) took the loss. 

"This was a tough loss," said Sparky Anderson, "the kind that sticks with you for awhile."
