June 29, 1985: Cubs (41-30) at Pirates (29-42)

Ron Cey had 2 base hits and 2 RBI and Dennis Eckersley went 9 strong innings at Forbes Field where the Chicago Cubs beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 3 to 0.

Pittsburgh surrendered all of the runs Chicago needed in the 1st inning scoring 3 runners on 3 hits. That scoring would be all that was needed. The pitchers took over after the 1st inning as neither team was able to score again.

Eckersley(10-4) was credited with the shutout. Rick Rhoden(3-10) was charged with the loss. He surrendered 7 hits and 3 walks in 8 innings.
