John Stuper tossed a shutout at Crosley Field where the Cincinnati Reds beat the New York Mets by the score of 3 to 0. 

Stuper(7-6) gave Cincinnati a solid outing. He was stingy on the mound, allowing just 7 hits and no walks in 9 innings seeing his ERA drop from 3.59 to 3.36. Both teams ended up with 7 hits on the night. 

Ron Darling(9-8) was tagged with the loss. He allowed 6 hits and 2 walks in 7 innings. The Cincinnati ballclub's record now stands at 42-39. The loss by New York ended their 14 game win streak.
