July 19, 1985: Cubs (50-39) at Giants (38-52)

Ryne Sandberg went deep and had 3 RBI as the Chicago Cubs defeated the San Francisco Giants by the score of 7 to 4 at CANDLESTICK PARK.

Chicago came up with 3 runs in the top of the 3rd inning. The key at-bat was by Sandberg who silenced the crowd when he launched a three-run homer. Chicago finished with 12 hits while San Francisco ended up with 5.

The victory was credited to Ray Fontenot(5-8) who went 6 innings, allowing 3 runs. Mike Krukow(4-12) was the loser. Jim Frey was just happy to get a win, 'We've had such a bad streak of games -- boy, it's great to get the monkey off our back. Now maybe we can relax a little and play the kind of baseball of which we are capable.'
