July 19, 1985: Phillies (37-51) at Reds (47-42)

Bo Diaz had 4 hits and 6 RBI as the Cincinnati Reds topped the Philadelphia Phillies by a score of 18 to 10 at Crosley Field.

It seemed that Philadelphia pitching was serving up softballs for Diaz to hit. He singled plating two runs in the 3rd inning, tripled bringing home two baserunners in the 4th inning, delivered a base-hit scoring two baserunners in the 5th inning and doubled in the 7th inning. Cincinnati bats were hot in the 3rd inning which saw them plate 4 runs on 3 hits and the 4th inning when they had 7 runs on 6 hits. Philadelphia scored in 5 different innings, but their shaky pitching kept them from victory.

Jay Tibbs(7-9) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 innings and allowing 8 runs. The loss was charged to Shane Rawley(7-12). He got hit hard, allowing 8 hits and 2 walks in 3 and 1/3 innings.

'It's almost like the ball was trying to hit my bat,' Diaz said. 'Whenever I would swing, the ball found the sweet spot.'
