The Pittsburgh Pirates had very little trouble at JACK MURPHY STADIUM downing the floundering San Diego Padres. The score was 8 to 3. 

San Diego found themselves trailing quickly as the Pittsburgh bats came through in the first inning when they scored 3 runs on 4 hits. San Diego was out-hit by Pittsburgh, 13 hits to 5. 

The win went to Jose Deleon(8-10) who allowed 3 runs in 8 innings. Andy Hawkins(7-10) was the loser. He allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 9 hits and 2 walks in 5 innings.
