July 24, 1985: Astros (45-50) at Phillies (38-55)

It was a laugher out at Shibe Park. The Houston Astros squad ripped Philadelphia pitching for a total of 12 runs. Nolan Ryan(10-11), with relief help from Ron Mathis, allowed Philadelphia 4 runs.

Kevin Bass had a good evening at the plate. He slapped a single in the 1st inning, clubbed a three-run home run in the 6th inning and slapped a one-base hit in the 8th inning. The Houston offense smacked the Philadelphia pitching staff around, scoring in 7 of the 9 innings.

Dave Rucker(1-2) was the loser. He got hit hard, allowing 10 hits and 2 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.
