Dave Stieb pitched 9 strong innings as the Toronto Blue Jays outscored the California Angels 5 to 0. 

Stieb(18-5) was tremendous on the mound for Toronto. He allowed just 4 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings. Toronto managed 10 hits in their victory. 

Ron Romanick(6-13) was the losing pitcher. Bobby Cox was very impressed with his pitcher, Stieb, 'He had unusually good pitch placement tonight. It was almost unfair - but a beautiful game to watch from where I sat'
