Graig Nettles slammed a homerun and had 2 RBI at Crosley Field where the San Diego Padres beat the Cincinnati Reds 6 to 3. 

The game started off with San Diego taking the lead in the first scoring a single run utilizing 3 base hits. San Diego had 16 hits overall, while Cincinnati had 4. 

Andy Hawkins(9-10) went 7 innings allowing 2 runs for the victory. Goose Gossage got the save, his 25th. Jay Tibbs(8-12) was the losing pitcher. He allowed 12 hits and 1 walk in 8 innings. 

San Diego now has a record of 60-48. With the loss Cincinnati now has a record of 57-49.
