August 7, 1985: Tigers (63-44) at Royals (60-47)

George Brett touched them all and had 3 RBI and Charlie Leibrandt allowed Dick Howser to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game as the Kansas City Royals man-handled the Detroit Tigers - the final score was 13 to 3.

Kansas City promptly took the lead in their half of the first when they came up with 5 runs on 5 hits. That early run support was enough for Leibrandt(10-8) and Kansas City. Kansas City finished with 14 hits in the victory. The losing pitcher was Frank Tanana(12-5). He was touched for 3 homeruns in his 4 innings of work.

Kansas City now has a record of a division leading 60-47. With the loss Detroit now has a record of 63-44.
