Milwaukee took the lead off Mike Mason in the first inning plating 3 runs using 3 hits. After an out was recorded, Robin Yount initiated the scoring spurt when he ripped a base-hit. Yount got a good lead and stole second. Cecil Cooper then drew a walk. One out later, Ben Oglivie came to bat and delivered a single which scored a run. Oglivie took second on the throw. Paul Householder stepped into the box and doubled as two more runners crossed the plate. That early run support was all that Pete Vuckovich(2-4) required. Milwaukee had 7 hits for the night.
Mason(11-9) suffered the loss. He was not very effective, surrendering 5 runs in 4 and 2/3 innings.
