August 8, 1985: Pirates (43-64) at Phillies (45-62)

Luis Aguayo slammed a homerun and had 4 RBI at Shibe Park as the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Pittsburgh Pirates by the count of 9 to 7.

Philadelphia had the winning rally in the 8th inning scoring 3 runs on 5 base hits. Darren Daulton was the sparkplug when he cracked a solo homerun. Jeff Stone came to the plate and slapped a one-base hit. Juan Samuel got his chance to keep things going, but he went down on strikes. Von Hayes followed next and he ripped a base-knock. Mike Schmidt was a strikeout victim, unable to help out. Glenn Wilson extended the rally and banged out a single bringing in another run. Aguayo came next and he lined a base-hit scoring the final run of the inning. This was a game of many highs and lows for the home town fans, as the lead kept changing - 5 times in all.

The victory was credited to Larry Andersen(2-1) who went 1 and 2/3 innings, allowing 4 runs. Kent Tekulve got the save, his 21st. Cecilio Guante(1-3) was charged with the loss in relief.
