One run was the difference at Shibe Park as the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 3 to 2. 

Philadelphia scored 2 runs in the 3rd inning when they had 4 base hits. It was enough scoring to earn the victory. St. Louis tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th. 

Shane Rawley(9-13) allowed 1 run in 8 innings, and picked up the victory. Kent Tekulve recorded his 22nd save. Danny Cox(6-9) took the loss.
