August 9, 1985: Yankees (63-46) at Red Sox (69-40)

Bruce Hurst whiffed 10 batters and Steve Lyons had 2 base hits and 3 RBI as the Boston Red Sox defeated the New York Yankees by a score of 9 to 7 at FENWAY PARK.

Hurst(11-8) pitched well for Boston in their victory. He went 8 innings and surrended up 9 hits and 5 walks. Boston had 13 hits overall, while New York had 10.

Bob Stanley recorded the save, his 29th. Dennis Rasmussen(6-4) took the loss. He was touched for 9 hits and 5 walks in 3 and 2/3 innings.

Everyone seemed to enjoy the performance of Hurst - except New York. Billy Martin lamented, 'He just was 'on' tonight. He was keeping our guys off balance all game. A fine game by a good strikeout pitcher - makes it a fun game for the hometown fans - unfortunately we were the visitors!'
