August 11, 1985: Astros (53-58) at Padres (61-52)

In a thrilling finish the San Diego Padres won in dramatic fashion coming back to beat the Houston Astros by the count of 6 to 5. 

San Diego came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning with 2 runs on 2 base hits. Jerry Royster led off and he drew a walk. Tony Gwynn stepped up next and he lashed a single. Gwynn took second on the throw. After an out was recorded, Graig Nettles then doubled resulting in an exciting win for San Diego and a wild post-game celebration by the home town fans. This was a game of many highs and lows for the home town fans, as the lead kept changing - 5 times in all. 

Goose Gossage(5-6) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 1 inning. Dave Smith(2-4) was tagged with the loss in relief. He surrendered 2 runs and 2 hits in 1/3 of an inning.
