First baseman Dave Kingman connected with a homer and had 2 RBI and Tim Birtsas delivered 8 solid innings at METRODOME where the Oakland Athletics beat the Minnesota Twins by the score of 4 to 3. 

Oakland took the lead for good in the top of the 6th inning scoring one runner on 3 hits. Neither team was able to score until the 6th inning. 

Birtsas(8-5) allowed 2 runs in 8 innings, and picked up the victory. Birtsas got relief help from Jay Howell who gained credit for his 20th save. John Butcher(3-17) was the loser.
