August 14, 1985: Phillies (49-65) at Mets (78-36)

Dwight Gooden retired 10 batters on strikeouts and Rafael Santana had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the New York Mets topped the Philadelphia Phillies by a score of 8 to 2 at SHEA STADIUM. 

Gooden(16-3) contributed a very nicely pitched game. He didn't allow much, just 5 hits and 3 walks in 9 innings. New York totaled 9 hits on the night. 

Shane Rawley(9-14) was the losing pitcher. 'Everything felt great' Gooden said. 'I had a good fastball, I felt I could throw it by everybody tonight.'
