August 15, 1985: Pirates (49-65) at Cardinals (67-48)

First baseman Jason Thompson had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the St. Louis Cardinals by a score of 9 to 7. 

Rick Rhoden(8-11) was not on his game this afternoon, but the Pittsburgh offense bailed him out. He gave up 7 runs, 11 hits and 1 walk in 6 innings and was touched for 2 homeruns. Pittsburgh had 17 hits for the game and St. Louis had 12. 

Rhoden got help from Cecilio Guante who was credited with his 22nd save. Joaquin Andujar(10-11) ended up with the loss. He allowed Pittsburgh 8 runs in 2 and 2/3 innings of work. 

'I didn't have my best stuff but sometimes you just get lucky,' Rhoden said, 'this was one of those times.'
