August 15, 1985: Reds (62-53) at Padres (63-54)

Andy Hawkins pitched 9 strong innings and Steve Garvey cracked a homer and had 2 RBI as the San Diego Padres topped the Cincinnati Reds by a score of 3 to 0 at JACK MURPHY STADIUM.

Hawkins(10-10) was indeed brilliant as he hand-cuffed the Cincinnati offense. He gave up just 4 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings. San Diego totaled 10 hits on the afternoon.

Ron Robinson(6-6) was the loser. He allowed 9 hits and 1 walk in 6 and 2/3 innings. 'He was moving it around and spotting it very well.' Pete Rose said. Hawkins pitched a great game. He deserves all the credit.'
