August 16, 1985: Dodgers (70-47) at Giants (49-66)

Mike Marshall blasted a homerun and had 2 RBI as the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the San Francisco Giants in 13 innings 5 to 3 at CANDLESTICK PARK. 

Both teams were tied at 3 runs apiece after nine innings. Finally, Los Angeles pulled the game out in the 13th inning. After an out was recorded, Bill Madlock keyed the rally when he laced a one-base hit. Candy Maldonado followed and he bombed a two-run dinger. Los Angeles took care of San Francisco with no trouble in the bottom of the 13th. 

Carlos Diaz(1-2) allowed no runs in 1 inning, and picked up the victory. Tom Niedenfuer gained credit for his 19th save. Mark Davis(1-3) ended up with the loss in relief. 

Los Angeles now has a record of a division leading 70-47. San Francisco has a record of 49-66 after the loss.
