August 18, 1985: Indians (45-76) at Tigers (68-50)

Mike Hargrove had 2 base hits as the Cleveland Indians defeated the Detroit Tigers 5 to 3 at TIGER STADIUM. 

Cleveland scored 3 runs in the 2nd inning when they had 3 base hits. Joe Carter opened up the inning nicely when he laced a single. Hargrove stepped up next and he slapped a base-hit. After an out was recorded, Mike Fischlin then reached on an error bringing in a run. Jerry Willard was a strikeout victim, unable to help out. Benny Ayala came up to bat and drew a walk to load the bases. Brett Butler added to the rally and delivered a single which accounted for two additional runs. Butler took second on the throw. Cleveland managed 11 hits in their victory. 

The winning pitcher was Don Schulze(7-14) who allowed 2 runs in 7 innings. Tom Waddell recorded his 12th save. Frank Tanana(12-7) was the losing pitcher. 

'He gutted it out' Pat Corrales said of Schulze. 'I was very impressed by his tenacity.'
