August 29, 1985: Red Sox (79-48) at Indians (48-83)

Oil Can Boyd threw a 2 hitter at MUNICIPAL STADIUM where the potent Boston Red Sox beat the pitiful Cleveland Indians 8 to 1.

Jim Rice was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided much of the offense for the visitors. He lined a base-hit bringing in a run in the 1st inning and lost the ball over the fence for three runs in the 6th inning. Boston rapped out 13 hits for the night.

Boyd(14-7), allowing 1 run for the game, picked up the victory. The losing pitcher was Jamie Easterly(6-4). He got hit pretty hard, allowing 9 hits and 4 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.

With this win, Boston has a division leading 79-48 record. They have been 7-3 lately. With this loss, Cleveland has a 3-7 record of late, 48-83, worst in the division overall.
