The Montreal Expos bested the San Diego Padres by a 5 to 2 score at JACK MURPHY STADIUM. 

Montreal took the lead for good in the 3rd inning as they scored 2 runs on 4 base hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Mitch Webster who silenced the crowd when he ripped a base-knock bringing in two baserunners. Jeff Reardon was perfect in the ninth giving him his 21st save on the season. 

Joe Hesketh(12-7) went 8 innings allowing 2 runs for the win. Dave Dravecky(12-11) was given the loss. He pitched 7 innings and surrendered 8 hits and 1 walk.
