Andre Thornton launched 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Cleveland Indians topped the Milwaukee Brewers by a score of 6 to 3 at COUNTY STADIUM. 

Thornton provided much of the offense. He launched a three-run homer in the 3rd inning, smashed a solo-shot out of the park in the 6th inning and laced a base-knock in the 9th inning. Cleveland and Milwaukee each finished the afternoon with 9 hits. 

The winning pitcher was Vern Ruhle(5-13) who allowed 1 run in 5 and 1/3 innings. Tom Waddell preserved the game for Ruhle, recording his his 14th save. Danny Darwin(13-13) suffered the loss. He surrended 3 homeruns in his 6 innings.
