After another out, Jim Pankovits stepped up to the plate and he reached on an error bringing in two baserunners. Houston had only 5 hits for the afternoon.

The winning pitcher was Nolan Ryan(13-14) who allowed 3 runs in 8 innings. Dave Smith earned the save, his 25th. Lee Smith(1-4) was tagged with the loss in relief. It was a tough loss for him as he did not allow an earned run in his 1 inning of work.
