September 2, 1985: Mariners (67-65) at Yankees (75-56)

Gorman Thomas smashed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI and Matt Young had a complete game as the Seattle Mariners defeated the New York Yankees 7 to 1 at YANKEE STADIUM. 

Thomas enjoyed a big day at the plate. He smashed a solo-shot out of the park in the 2nd inning, blasted a two-run home run in the 3rd inning and laced a base-knock in the 5th inning. Seattle had a total of 12 hits for the game. 

The winning pitcher was Young(14-11) who allowed 1 run for the game. Ron Guidry(21-8) was given the loss. He was not very effective, surrendering 6 runs in 3 innings.
