September 7, 1985: Pirates (62-74) at Astros (66-69)

Right fielder Terry Puhl had 4 hits at Colt Stadium where the Houston Astros beat the Pittsburgh Pirates by the score of 6 to 5. 

Houston had the game winning rally in the 8th inning with 3 runs on 3 hits. After an out was recorded, Puhl got things going when he doubled. After another out, Alan Ashby stepped up to the plate and he stroked a single scoring a one-base hit run. Kevin Bass then blasted a two-run home run. Pittsburgh had a chance in the 9th but they came up short. 

Charlie Kerfeld(3-2) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 inning and allowing no runs. Dave Smith recorded the save, his 26th. Jose Deleon(9-15) was tagged with the loss. He allowed 12 hits and 4 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings.
