September 10, 1985: Cardinals (84-53) at Mets (87-50)

One run was the difference at SHEA STADIUM as the very strong St. Louis Cardinals defeated the New York Mets 5 to 4. 

St. Louis jumped on top of New York in the top of the 2nd inning scoring a single run. New York had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short. 

Danny Cox(8-11) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 innings and allowing 1 run. Jeff Lahti earned the save, his 23rd. Ron Darling(14-13) was hit with the loss. He surrendered 7 hits and 4 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.
