In a good matchup it was the Cleveland Indians 4, the Seattle Mariners 1 at The Kingdome. 

Seattle was unable to recover after Cleveland went ahead in the top of the 4th inning scoring one runner utilizing 2 base hits. Overall Cleveland out-hit Seattle 9 to 6. 

Jerry Reed(3-3) was the winner allowing 1 run in 8 innings. Tom Waddell preserved the game for Reed, recording his his 16th save. Frank Wills(5-11) was given the loss.
