September 9, 1985: Royals (76-60) at Angels (58-79)

Left fielder Lonnie Smith hit a homerun and had 4 RBI at ANAHEIM STADIUM as the Kansas City Royals beat the California Angels by the count of 9 to 2. 

Kansas City jumped on top of California in the top of the 6th inning plating 2 runs on 2 hits. After an out was recorded, Willie Wilson initiated the scoring spurt when he laced a one-base hit. One out later, George Brett came to bat and bombed a two-run dinger. Kansas City rapped out 11 hits for the night. 

Charlie Leibrandt(15-9) was the winner allowing 2 runs in 7 innings. Jim Slaton(9-15) was the loser. He surrendered 4 runs and 4 hits in 6 and 1/3 innings.
