September 9, 1985: Yankees (78-59) at Brewers (62-75)

Designated hitter Ted Simmons ripped 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the New York Yankees by the score of 8 to 2 at COUNTY STADIUM. 

Simmons had a great evening at the plate. He had the crowd cheering his every move. He cleared the fences for a two-run home run in the 1st inning, hit a bases-empty home run in the 4th inning and tripled scoring two baserunners in the 7th inning. Both teams totaled 8 hits on the night. 

The winning pitcher was Ray Burris(13-15) who allowed 2 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings. Bob Shirley(9-3) was given the loss. He served up 3 gopher balls in 4 innings. 

The Milwaukee ballclub's record now stands at 62-75. With the loss, the New York ballclub's record is 78-59.
