September 22, 1985: Tigers (90-59) at Red Sox (86-63)

Kirk Gibson launched 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI at FENWAY PARK as the mighty Detroit Tigers beat the floundering Boston Red Sox by the count of 8 to 6.

Gibson was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day at their team's expense. He popped a two-run clout over the fence in the 1st inning, singled in the 5th inning and blasted a solo shot in the 7th inning. Walt Terrell(17-9) was helped out by Willie Hernandez who pitched a perfect ninth and recorded his 34th save.

Bruce Hurst(13-11) was given the loss. He was knocked around pretty good, giving up 7 runs in 4 and 2/3 innings.
