Chris Welsh(4-3) won the game with a masterful relief performance. He did not allow a hit or a walk in his 1 inning. Oakland could do no damage in the 9th. Welsh was helped out by Greg Harris who recorded his 37th save.
Don Sutton(9-19) was charged with the loss. He gave up 5 runs and 6 hits in 7 innings.
