Cincinnati drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning plating 2 runs on 2 hits. Eddie Milner started the inning off right when he drew a walk. Milner was safe at second on a stolen base. Eric Davis then stroked a single. Cincinnati continued their aggressive style with another stolen base. Pete Rose came up to bat and lined a single scoring the final run of the inning. That was all Ron Robinson(9-7) needed. Cincinnati out-hit San Francisco for the game, 13 hits to 6.
