Mookie Wilson had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the powerful New York Mets bested the Pittsburgh Pirates 12 to 9 at Forbes Field. 

Wilson enjoyed a big day at the plate. He ripped a base-knock in the 1st inning, doubled which plated a run in the 4th inning, slapped a single knocking in a run in the 5th inning and tripled which brought home a run in the 7th inning. New York finished with 13 hits in the victory. 

The win went to Sid Fernandez(24-7) who allowed 6 runs in 5 innings. Jesse Orosco recorded his 16th save. Jose Deleon(10-18) was hit with the loss. New York scored big getting 6 runs off him in 4 innings.
