Schmidt enjoyed a fine evening at the plate. He cracked a two-run shot in the 3rd inning, lined a single in the 5th inning, doubled knocking in a run in the 6th inning and singled in the 9th inning. Philadelphia simply wore out the Montreal pitching staff, scoring in 6 different innings.
Kevin Gross(6-17) was the winner allowing 3 runs in 5 and 2/3 innings. Bill Gullickson(11-18) was hit with the loss. He was knocked around pretty good, giving up 7 runs in 4 innings.
